In 1983, Brian saw a need in Sydney’s north-western suburbs for a contemporary, life-filled, Bible-based church, and started Hills Christian Life Centre in the Baulkham Hills Public School hall on Sunday 14 August 1983 with just 45 people. It is now the more than 21,000 strong Hillsong Church which incorporates three major worship centers (Baulkham Hills, Waterloo, and the Southwest Campus of Macarthur), plus a citywide network of connect groups, extension services across the city, and growing congregations in London, Kiev, Cape Town, Paris, Stockholm and Moscow.
Brian Houston
Brian is passionate about the Cause of Christ, consumed with seeing people come into relationship with Jesus and committed to championing the cause of the local church - globally. With over 30 years of leadership and ministry experience, Brian’s commitment and ability to present the timeless message of Christ in a relevant and practical way has seen countless lives impacted. Bobbie Houston
With a contagious zest for life, Bobbie passionately believes in the potential of all people and is devoted to the Cause of Christ. Her and Brian’s all consuming desire is to place value on humanity. To that end they labor to see healthy men, women and youth emerge across the landscape of the Church. More »
Brian and Bobbie and their three grown children – Joel, Ben & Laura- all live in Sydney, Australia. Joel is a gifted musician and songwriter who is the Creative Director of Hillsong Church. Ben is married to Lucille and together they are pastors of Hillsong’s Northern Beaches Extension Service. Their youngest, Laura, is married to Peter and works for the church as the Head of Marketing and Creative Design. In 2008, Ben and Lucille welcomed their first daughter and the Houston’s first granddaughter, Savannah Winter, into the family.

The Hillsong Eldership
Brian Houston is Founder and Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church.
George Aghajanian is the General Manager of Hillsong Church. He possesses a wealth of senior management experience in both Australian and international organisations, and brings a strong balance of faith and practical business application to his role.
Nabi Saleh is the Chairman of Gloria Jean's Coffees Australia and New Zealand. His strong business acumen and Godly wisdom have also enabled him to sit on several boards of directors for many large, non-profit organisations.
Robert Fergusson is a Senior Associate Pastor at Hillsong Church. He is passionate about imparting practical life principles from the Bible, and his primary gifting and function within the church is that of preaching and teaching.
Dr. Gordon Lee is a highly respected General Practitioner, and operates successful medical practices in Sydney. He also pastors the Hillsong Chinese Extension Services.
Leigh Howard-Smith is the Managing Director of several companies in the logistics/transport and plastic manufacturing industries.
Don Cooper-Williams is a Senior Marketing Executive within the IT Industry. With both Godly wisdom and management skills, he is a gifted communicator within the church and the corporate community.
Joel A'Bell, with his wife Julia, have been on staff at Hillsong Church for over 10 years. Recently, he has come alongside Brian & Bobbie to outwork the Hillsong vision across the Hills, City, South West & Brisbane campuses. Joel is a devoted husband, and father to Harmony and Eli.
