Strengthening Families

Strengthening Families is a community based initiative that helps families get access to the services they need. It brings together a family and participatory agencies to resource families.
The aim of Strengthening families is to provide early support to families.
Strengthening families is a City Care initiative which provides educational programs, including early childhood educational sessions and playgroups to equip parents with knowledge on positive and healthy parenting skills and gather parents in the same season of life to engage with and encourage one another.

Services Available:

•    Early Childhood Education Sessions
•    NEWBUBS – Parents with babies
•    Playgroup

Early Childhood Education Sessions

For parents who come with their preschool children. Parenting education events are held regularly throughout the year in conjunction with Playgroup; includes guest speakers discussing topics such as behaviour management, brain gym workshop for children, healthy foods for children, dental & medical care for children and sibling rivalry. Sessions also include fantastic morning tea & the time to develop friendships with other parents in the same season of life.

These sessions run in 3 different locations during playgroup:

• Where: Hills Campus 1-5 Solent Circuit Baulkham Hills, The Hub Nursery
  When: 21st May, 13th Aug, 12th Nov
• Where: City Campus, 188 Young Street Waterloo, Cubbyhouse
  When: 14th May, 6th Aug, 5th Nov
• Where: South West Campus, 5 Watsford Road, Campbelltown
  When: 28th May, 20th Aug, 19th Nov

NEW BUBS - Parents with babies

Gather every Monday in the baby lounge inside Hills Playgroup. During the year in this weekly group we include information sessions. Guest speakers discuss topics such as first foods, back in shape after birth, communicating with your baby, settling your baby and aquatics and resuscitation for babies. Sessions also include fantastic morning tea & the time to develop friendships with other parents in the same season of life.

Cost: free
Where:  Hills Campus 1-5 Solent Circuit Baulkham Hills
Time: 10:30am - 12 noon

Playgroup

A weekly educative program for children aged 0-5 years with a parent / carer; includes fantastic morning tea & great friendships. Age appropriate activities, music, story times and more.

Playgroup runs during the school term in 4 different locations:

• Where: Hills Campus 1-5 Solent Circuit Baulkham Hills, the Hub Nursery.
  Time: 10:30am - 12 noon
  Cost: $5
  When: 6 Feb - 2 April, 27 April - 25 June, 23 July - 21 September, 8 October - 30 November (Mondays & Fridays)
• Where: City Campus, 188 Young Street Waterloo, Cubbyhouse
  Time: 10:30am - 12 noon
  Cost: $5
  When: 6 Feb - 2 April, 30 April - 25 June, 23 July - 17 September, 8 October - 26 November (Monday)

Also held at Burwood Extension (Wednesday) and South West Campus (Monday)
