Sexual Abuse Freedom & Education
Equipping Men & Women to overcome - not just survive.
One of the biggest difficulties of sexual abuse is the whole issue of silence. Approximately, 21% females and 11% of males have been through some form of sexual abuse by the time they are sixteen and yet most people never speak about it, because they are usually too ashamed, or think that maybe it was their fault or that there is something they could have done to prevent it.
There are long and short term effects of sexual abuse. Eg: relational difficulties, intimacy, trust, negative view of self and others, difficulty managing emotions, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, volatile behaviour and low self esteem.
SAFE offers educational and support workshops which we seek to make available to anyone in our community who have been affected by sexual abuse. SAFE is two-fold in that it aims to help people who have been affected by sexual abuse as well as equipping parents, carers, volunteers and workers with skills and training to help prevent abuse from happening in the first place. With training and education, SAFE aims to help people in a practical way, by receiving the support they need in a caring, experienced and positive community.
All SAFE programs are offered free of charge.

“PREPARING FOR THE JOURNEY AHEAD”
PRESENTED BY NICOLETTE DEVA
M.Ed (Psych)., Grad.Dip.Psych., Grad.Dip.Ed., B.Sc. Assoc MAPS
Nicolette is a psychologist and has worked with communities, young adults, adolescents and children in counselling and training roles for the past 16 years. She currently works in private practice at Life Medical Clinic in Waterloo and at the Hillsong CityCare Health Centre in Castle Hill.
Workshop Description:
Usually at significant times or moments in a person’s life, resolutions and commitments are made to pursue a personal direction or a goal in life – a journey of a kind is embarked on. Some times these journeys involve addressing and resolving trauma from the past in order to realize a dream in the present or in the future. Having a map and knowledge about what lies ahead ensures that journeys are not only completed but are adequately prepared for.
In this interactive workshop, Nicolette will help you develop a map for the journey ahead. She will help you to understand and explore important aspects of these types of journeys, the general emotional and mental territories ahead that need to be conquered, and the preparations that need to be made ahead of departure.
Bookings for this workshop are ESSENTIAL – LIMITED SEATING. For more information, phone (02) 8853 5295. All enquiries will be treated with utmost respect & confidentiality.
